TERMS OF SERVICE AGREEMENT
The Centergy Building high-speed internet service offered through Georgia Tech’s Office of Information Technology will provide four active data ports per suite at network speeds up to 100 Mbps.
NOTE: Full 100 Mbps is not guaranteed 100% of the time. Actual speed may vary depending on network load, scheduled power system maintenance, power outages, equipment failures, etc. Georgia Tech support technicians will be on hand to troubleshoot and repair network problems that occur up to but not beyond the data port. Perceived network speed can be impacted by the equipment that is plugged into the port. Two different computers plugged into the same port will not display the same score on speed test. This Data Service is not fail-safe and is not designed or intended for use in situations requiring fail-safe performance or in which an error or interruption in the Services could lead to severe injury to business, persons, property or environment. Therefore 100% up time of this network is not guaranteed.
GT OIT Security Team will monitor public traffic across the port for signs of malware signatures and will notify the tenant in case of detection. This service is meant to (1) protect your brand and reputation and (2) help prevent Georgia Tech’s IP subnet from being listed in block-list databases. The GT OIT Security Team also monitors for signs of downloading Copyrighted or Trademarked works.
You will be contacted and alerted whenever there is a detection of Copyrighted or Trademarked works being downloaded or upon signs of malware signatures. Repeated violations of downloading Copyrighted or Trademarked materials or the inability to remove malware from your local network may result in the termination of your access to GT Data Services and referral to commercially available Internet service providers operating at the Centergy Building. Please refer to Georgia Tech Computer and Network Usage Policy for more details on these topics.
Customers of our service are asked to comply with the US CAN-SPAM Act. If you break the rules, you could be liable for hundreds of dollars for each recipient that you sent non-complaint messages to and your IP address may be added to Block-List databases throughout the World thus making email communications from this IP address difficult.
Special services such as port forwarding, firewall rules changes, or a dedicated IP address are not available on this service plan. If you require more than basic service we can refer you to commercially available Internet service providers.
